For the time trial specialist who races regional and national TTs in their category, and for the non-drafting short-distance triathlete who wants a cutting-edge bike. It is aimed at a demanding rider who pays attention to every adjustment.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. The acronym refers to compacting the fibres at high temperature and under strong pressure, a process Trek has used since 1992 to eliminate internal voids. The number that goes with it measures how optimised the layup is. The Speed Concept SLR 9 stays with OCLV 800, like the whole family: Trek did not see the point of using the Madone's OCLV 900, because a time trial bike is judged first and foremost on its drag. The frame is covered by Trek's lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 800 (Speed Concept SLR) | OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | |
| Level | Trek's former top-end road carbon | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level road carbon |
| Construction | Lay-up optimised for large-section aero tubes | 3D moulding, fewer fibre overlaps | Same process, slightly more material |
| Reference bike | Frame 1,522 g painted + fork 410 g | Madone SLR: frame 796 g (ML) + fork 350 g | Madone SL: frame 1,054 g (ML) + fork 363 g |
| What it means | Stiff and durable, integrated storage and IsoSpeed | Up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 | Heavier, more affordable budget |
The key point: switching to OCLV 900 would save a few grams that nobody would feel in a stretched-out position on the flat. Trek's choice focuses the SLR 9's budget on the Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain and the RSL wheels, where the difference can be felt.
In a time trial, the full-foil fork with integrated calliper and the stem hidden in the cockpit reduce the frontal area to the bare minimum. Hydraulic braking on 160 mm CL900 rotors remains powerful despite this integration, provided the bleed is carefully maintained.
The cranks offered in two lengths per size let you fine-tune the position: in a short time trial, some rouleurs prefer the longer one to push the 52x11; in a triathlon, the shorter one spares the hips. We fit the one that matches your riding.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 37 | 8.97 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM Force AXS + power meter | Aeolus Pro 51 | 9.02 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM RED AXS + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
Our take: for pure time trialling, the SLR 9 with its Dura-Ace Di2 is the ultimate; the SLR 9 AXS adds a power meter as standard, useful for pacing your effort on a wind-exposed course.

LVR sizing advice The table gives a first indication; on a Speed Concept, it is the stretched-out position held for hours that determines the right size. Plan a bike fit before ordering.
