The Trek Madone SLR 9 AXS Gen 8 uses Trek's race configuration: an OCLV Series 900 carbon frame, a wireless SRAM RED AXS E1 2x12 groupset with power meter and Bontrager Aeolus RSL 51 wheels, for 7.00 kg in size ML. This single Madone replaces both the former aero Madone and the lightweight Émonda, which finally makes the racer's choice simpler. The Lidl-Trek Team Replica colourway dresses the bike in the white and blue worn by the Lidl-Trek professional team.

For the licensed racer who competes in regional races and wants one bike for summit finishes and flat circuits alike, the rider who trains with power zones, or the enthusiast who follows the pro peloton and wants to ride the same platform as its riders.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. On this Madone SLR 9 AXS, Trek uses OCLV Series 900, the pinnacle of carbon expertise that began in 1992. The principle never changes: each stack of fibres goes into a heated press to eliminate the air bubbles that would weaken the structure. The 3D moulding specific to Series 900 limits the areas where plies overlap, resulting in a painted frame of 796 g in ML and a 350 g fork. Like every OCLV frame, it benefits from the Trek lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | OCLV 800 (Speed Concept) | |
| Level | Trek's most refined carbon | Entry-level road carbon | Trek's former top-end road carbon |
| Construction | 3D moulding, reduced ply overlaps | Same process, more generous lay-up | Proven lay-up, integration comes first |
| Reference bike | Madone SLR: painted frame 796 g (ML), fork 350 g | Madone SL: painted frame 1,054 g (ML), fork 363 g | Speed Concept SLR: painted frame 1,522 g |
| What it means | 271 g less than the SL on frame and fork; up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 | Same aero shapes, separate bar and stem, gentler budget | Still very high-performing, reserved for triathlon at Trek |
Put simply: between a Madone SL and this SLR, the 271 g difference on the frame and fork is felt mainly on long climbs and when accelerating. The real leap of the SLR 9 AXS also lies in what it comes with: RED E1 groupset, power meter and one-piece bar/stem, three features you will not find together further down the range.
The power meter built into the RED E1 chainset changes the way you train: you measure your real efforts rather than relying on heart rate, which is affected by the summer heat of the Hérault. During preparation, we pair the power meter with your bike computer, update the AXS firmware and check the calibration before your first ride.
According to Trek's measurements, this Madone saves 77 seconds per hour over the Émonda at 200 W, bottles included, while being just as light. On the flat roads between Béziers and Agde, this aerodynamic advantage means a speed that is easier to hold at the front of the group; on the climbs towards Lamalou-les-Bains, the modest weight means you do not pay for that aerodynamics.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Madone SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM Force AXS | Aeolus Pro 51 carbon | 7.22 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | Aeolus RSL 51 carbon | 7.05 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS E1 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 carbon | 7.00 kg (ML) |
| Madone SLR 9 AXS 1x | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED E1 1x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 carbon | 6.40 kg (ML) |
Our take: compared with the SLR 9 Dura-Ace Di2, this model saves 50 g and adds a power meter. The SLR 7 AXS weighs 220 g more with Aeolus Pro wheels; the 1x drops to 6.40 kg but falls outside the UCI rules.

LVR sizing advice Race geometry: between two sizes, the smaller one lowers the front end, the larger one spares your back. As the bar/stem is a single piece, changing stem length means changing the whole cockpit: it is best to get it right from the start.
