The Trek Dual Sport+ 2 Midstep is a dual-purpose electric hybrid bike: it rides on the road, but it is designed to venture onto easy trails. The Dual Sport+ 2 uses the same assistance as the FX+ 2 (40 Nm Hyena motor in the rear wheel, 250 Wh battery hidden in the down tube) but steers it towards trails with a DS+ fork and a handlebar widened to 690 mm. Its Midstep version lowers the top tube: getting your leg over is easier, without giving up a stiff frame.

In other words: at 17.28 kg in M, this Dual Sport+ 2 Midstep is the lightest e-bike in this selection. It is aimed at riders who want to alternate between tarmac and easy trails on a bike they can get on effortlessly.

The 40 Nm hub motor, controlled by a torque sensor at the bottom bracket, gives you progressive assistance: ideal on a gravel track where a sudden surge would make the rear wheel spin. As e-bike regulations require, the assistance stops at 25 km/h.

The 690 mm handlebar, wider than on an FX+, gives more control when the terrain gets rougher. The 9-speed Shimano 11-36 cassette and the long-cage Altus derailleur are enough for getting back up to speed, and the Pletscher kickstand is still supplied for stops.
