The LVR workshop view

The Verve+ 2 Lowstep: Bosch power in a step-through frame. Its Alpha Smooth aluminium shapes a very low top tube so you can get on and off without lifting your leg. The 400 Wh Bosch CompactTube battery slides into the down tube, the 75 Nm Performance Line motor sits at the bottom bracket and a one-piece bar and stem carries the headlight.

Verve+ 1 Lowstep (Active Line)	Verve+ 2 Lowstep (Performance Line)	Verve+ 3 Lowstep (Performance Line)
Level	40 Nm, rigid fork	75 Nm, 60 mm fork	75 Nm, 60 mm fork
Construction	CompactTube 400 Wh	CompactTube 400 Wh	Integrated 545 or 800 Wh battery
Reference bike	23.30 kg (M)	25.40 kg (M)	26.59 kg (M)
What it means	Gentle assistance, lighter bike	Torque for the hills, suspension comfort	More energy, 2.40 tyres

In other words: the Verve+ 2 Lowstep combines a step-through frame, the 75 Nm Bosch motor, a suspension fork and a suspension seatpost for 25.40 kg in M according to Trek. The 400 Wh battery is enough for most everyday journeys and leisure rides.

The step-through frame makes choosing a size more flexible: what matters most is saddle height and reach to the handlebar. The 300 mm suspension seatpost and the integrated bar and stem give an upright position with relaxed shoulders.

The Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes on 160 mm rotors brake consistently on dry or wet roads and are easy to modulate. The resin pedals with anti-slip tape and reflectors provide good grip, even in everyday shoes.

Which Verve+ should you choose?

Model	Motor	Battery	Drivetrain	Weight (size)
Verve+ 1 Lowstep (CompactTube)	Bosch Active Line 40 Nm	400 Wh	Shimano Acera 8-speed 11-40	23.30 kg (M)
Verve+ 2 Lowstep	Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm	400 Wh	Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-36	25.40 kg (M)
Verve+ 3 Lowstep	Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm	545 or 800 Wh	Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-36	26.59 kg (M)
Verve+ 4 Lowstep	Bosch Performance Line 75 Nm	545 or 800 Wh	Shimano CUES 9-speed 11-46	23.50 kg (M)

Our take: this black comes in M and L, whereas Dark Aquatic and Plasma Grey Pearl are offered in L. The standard-frame Verve+ 2 offers the same motor for 26.10 kg in L.

LVR sizing advice

This colour is offered in M (160 to 180 cm) and L (180 to 200 cm) according to Trek. The step-through frame copes well if you are between sizes; the integrated bar and stem offers less adjustment than a conventional stem, hence the value of a position test ride.

Size	M	L
Rider height (cm)	160-180	180-200
Inseam (cm)	74-85	85-94
Seatpost (mm)	300	300
