The Trek Inbound+ 2 R8 Lowstep in Lavender Haze wears a powdery lavender mauve, fresh and bright like a summer morning. Who is it for?

For the rider who loves heading to Valras-Plage or Sérignan in summer, and riding in town the rest of the year. The low frame makes frequent stops easy, at a café terrace or by the beach, and the eight gears help into the sea breeze on the way home.

The Inbound+ 2 R8 LS combines two things customers often ask for in the shop: a Lowstep frame you can step through effortlessly and a proper range of gears. The 8-speed Shimano ESSA derailleur is operated by thumb, and the Bosch motor hidden in the rear hub supports every restart. It's all built on an Alpha Smooth aluminium frame.

In short: 21.70 kg in M, a 360 Wh battery and eight gears: the Inbound+ 2 R8 LS is the versatile Lowstep in the range, between the lighter belt-drive version and the longer-range R10 LS.

By the sea, the wind changes everything: in the morning it pushes, in the evening it holds you back. With eight gears, you adapt your pedalling to these changes and let the Bosch motor make up for the air resistance. It supports you up to 25 km/h, and the assistance returns by itself as soon as you slow down.

Salt and sand don't like mechanical parts: after a ride by the sea, a gentle rinse with clean water, without a pressure washer, then wiping the chain and applying a little lube is all it takes. The SKS mudguards limit spray, and the MIK rack carries a towel and beach bag.

Our take: the eight gears of this R8 LS are invaluable into the sea breeze, for 1.20 kg more than the B Lowstep. For longer or repeated trips to the sea, the R10 LS and its 600 Wh (22.40 kg in M) offer more reserve.

LVR sizing advice

Four sizes, from S (147 to 155 cm) to XL (185 to 203 cm). On a Lowstep, many riders hesitate between two sizes: the smaller one gives a more upright position and a closer bar, useful for looking over your shoulder in traffic.
