At 6.63 kg in size ML, the Trek Domane SLR 9 AXS 1x Gen 5 is the lightest Domane in the range. It combines OCLV Series 900 carbon, a wireless SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 drivetrain with power meter, Aeolus RSL 37 wheels and an Aero RSL integrated bar-stem. The Mother of Pearl/Silver Marble colourway gives it a pearly white with silver marbling, elegant on such a clean frame.

For the high-performance rider who wants the lightness of a race bike without giving up a Domane frame, with its mudguard and bag mounts. It is aimed at fast sportives and rides where the clock matters, rather than gentle tours.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. This model's 6.63 kg starts with the frame. Trek uses its OCLV 900 here, the latest evolution of a process launched in 1992 that compacts the fibres under heat and pressure to banish micro-voids. Moulded in 3D, with fewer overlaps, this carbon lightens the Domane frame by about 220 g compared with OCLV 500 and makes it up to 20 % stronger than OCLV 800. But this frame is shared by all SLR models: the difference comes from the drivetrain with no front derailleur, the 37 mm RSL rims, the 28 mm tyres and the integrated cockpit.
| OCLV 900 (Domane SLR) | OCLV 500 (Domane SL) | |
| Level | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level carbon of the road range |
| Construction | Rigid 3D moulding, reduced fibre overlaps | More generous layup with more material |
| Gen 5 Domane frame | approx. 835 g (unpainted, size ML) | approx. 1,055 g |
| What it means | About 220 g saved on the frame; the rest of the weight comes down to the components | Heavier frame, ideal for a first carbon bike |
In a sportive, lightness is felt mainly when accelerating and on short climbs, where the bike seems to leap forward under effort. The power meter built into the RED chainset lets you manage your pace and avoid burning your matches too early. On a rolling route like those of the Minervois, this liveliness turns every short climb into a playground, and the bike stays stable at high speed on the descents.
The 28 mm Pirelli tyres are a surprise on a Domane, whose philosophy is built around 35 mm sections: they save weight and make the bike livelier, but filter less, and the frame accepts up to 40 mm. The Aero RSL bar-stem, shared with the Madone, also puts you lower than the raised bar of the other SLR models; we adjust its height with spacers before handover.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (ML) |
| Domane SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 | Aeolus Pro 51 | 7.66 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x12 | Aeolus RSL 51 | 7.34 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | 7.29 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS 1x | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED XPLR AXS 1x13 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 | 6.63 kg |
| Domane SLR 9 AXS No. 76 | OCLV 900 | SRAM RED AXS 2x12 + power meter | Aeolus RSL 37 | 7.19 kg |
Our take: 6.63 kg in ML is 660 g less than the SLR 9 AXS (7.29 kg), at the cost of a lower position and narrower tyres. If comfort comes first, the SLR 9 AXS remains the more coherent choice; for speed and the mountains, the 1x takes the advantage.
