For the little mountain biker who loves dirt tracks, bumps and rocky sections, like those in the garrigue around Béziers. It also suits families who head off on mountain bike weekends and want their child to have a bike that is up to the job.
Alpha Silver aluminium, built here for the trails. The Wahoo 20 Trail uses Trek's Alpha alloy but kits it out like a little mountain bike: hydraulic callipers on a Post Mount fork, 6-bolt disc hubs and a narrow-wide chainring that holds the chain in place over bumps.
| Wahoo 20 Trail (this bike) | Wahoo 20 Path | Wahoo 24 Trail | |
| Frame | Alpha Silver 20 inch | Alpha Silver 20 inch | Alpha Silver 24 inch |
| Fork / brakes | Rigid, 160 mm hydraulic discs | Alloy, V-brake | Rigid, 160 mm hydraulic discs |
| Tyres | Kenda Amrak 2.20 in | Connection Comp 2.00 in | Kenda Amrak 2.20 in |
| What it means | Fingertip braking, 9 speeds | 1.10 kg lighter, for the road | The logical next step, from 1.30 m |
In other words: the 20 Trail weighs 1.10 kg more than the 20 Path, but it brings hydraulic disc brakes, a ninth gear and wider tyres. It is the choice for children who already want to ride off the beaten path.
The 2.20-inch Kenda Amrak tyres offer more volume than the 2.00-inch tyres on the Wahoo Path: they grip better on dusty ground and smooth out small stones. With no suspension, this air volume does most of the work for comfort, provided the pressure is set correctly, which we do at handover.
The 580 mm handlebar and its short 45 mm stem give lively steering, ideal for weaving between trees or rocks. The nylon VP-225 platform pedals offer a wide contact area for trainers.
| Model | Wheels / child's height | Gears | Brakes | Weight |
| Wahoo 20 Path | 20 in / 1.14 to 1.32 m | 8 | V-brake | 8.75 kg |
| Wahoo 20 Trail | 20 in / 1.14 to 1.32 m | 9 | Hydraulic discs | 9.85 kg |
| Precaliber 20 7-speed | 20 in / 1.14 to 1.32 m | 7 | V-brake | 10.90 kg |
| Wahoo 24 Trail | 24 in / 1.30 to 1.50 m | 9 | Hydraulic discs | 10.50 kg |
Our take: if your child is nearing 1.30 m and rides mostly off-road, the Wahoo 24 Trail (10.50 kg) will take over with an 11-42 cassette. For roads and greenways, the 20 Path remains lighter at 8.75 kg.
