The GP series provides a perfect solution for common wrist pain when cycling. In particular, the Ergon GP5 Regular grips offer an ergonomic approach to relieving wrist pain thanks to their pure rubber compound and numerous hand position options. Additional benefits of this handle are the easy-to-install clamping mechanism and the approved back-friendly ergonomics. Not approved for carbon handlebars.
When you ride, your hands support much of your body weight on the handlebars, putting a lot of pressure on a relatively small grip area. In many cases, this pinches the extremely sensitive ulnar nerve that runs near the base of the palm near the little finger and close to the surface of the skin, often causing numbness. The wing grip increases the hand support area by distributing pressure over a wider surface area, preventing discomfort.
If your wrist is bent too much for too long, the nerves, tendons and blood vessels are compressed. The result is that the carpal tunnel is constricted, which could damage the median nerve. Long journeys and fatigue make it even more difficult for the cyclist to maintain a correct and healthy posture. The wing design of our GP grips provides the hand with additional support and automatically places the wrist in a more ergonomic position, preventing numbness, tingling and pain.
To help you maintain perfect control over your bike, your hands should not completely wrap around the grip, which is why Ergon offers many grips in two size diameters - Small (6.5 to 8.5 inches, or approx. 16.5 to 21.5 cm) and Large (8.5 to 10.5 inches, approximately 21.5 to 26.7 cm). The difference is in grip width (hand size), meaning a larger hand will fit better on a thicker grip, while a smaller hand will fit better on a smaller grip .
Back pain is the most common condition. Particularly when this happens while cycling, the joy of riding is diminished. As part of extensive testing procedures by an interdisciplinary expert panel consisting of doctors, orthopedists and physiotherapists, the back-friendly effect of the GP5 grip has now been officially confirmed.
The material used in Ergon grips meets the highest quality purity standards, is TÜV certified, durable and absolutely unique in the world of cycling grips. Developed using medical grade white oil as the sole plasticizer. The UV-resistant rubber compound was developed and is manufactured exclusively for Ergon in Germany. Ergonomics, product design and engineering – all Made in Germany.
The GP Series clamping system is extremely secure and easy to mount. Each handle is tightened with a single bolt to reliably secure its position and prevent twisting. Another important safety feature is that Ergon 's aluminum clamps are cold forged, not extruded - resulting in a much stronger structure. GP grip versions with lightweight tips - made from fiberglass composite and with grippy rubber inserts - provide additional hand positions for added comfort.
Minimum friction - maximum comfort: When riding, Ergon 's super soft, UV-resistant, long-life rubber compound with specific surface texture characteristics provides a secure grip. At the same time, they are pleasant to the touch - noticeably increasing your driving pleasure.
The GP series grips are also available in different versions compatible with different types of rotary gear changers. With standard shifters, both handles are the same length on both sides. Versions for Gripshift® and Dual-Twist shifters have two short handles, while Rohloff@, Nexus® and Single-Twist shifters require the right side handle to be shorter to accommodate the shift mechanism. speed.
