Men's SR Pro Carbon

The SR Pro Carbon Men brings ergonomics to a lightweight, high-performance saddle. It weighs only 175 grams with carbon rails and a carbon composite seat shell (size S/M). With an ergonomic shape and relief channel plus OrthoCell ® inlays to distribute the seated load, this saddle is lightweight, supportive and pressure-relieving.

Specifications

men's health

Ergon 's development team has conducted intensive research on the topic of men's health. They found that the main cause of bicycle complaints is the saddle. Often, men experience too much pressure on their perineal area, which leads to pain, discomfort, numbness, and potentially more serious health issues. The SR Pro Men relieves this pressure with a very specific relief channel as well as a better distribution of the surface under the bony structures. Using MRT, CT analysis, numerous prototypes and test riders, we have ergonomically adjusted the saddle to the specific anatomy and needs of men.

More freedom of movement

Compared to women, the male pelvis tends to be less flexible. This means that men sit straighter in the saddle and distribute their weight more over their seat bones. Therefore, the transition area between the rear of the saddle and the saddle nose can be kept narrow (Y-shape). This gives the legs more room to pedal.

Male and female pelvic differences

Unlike the female anatomy, the male seat bones are narrower and the place where the two sides of the pelvis meet in the front is much higher. This results in greater distributed pressure on the sit bones of men compared to a wider area of sit bones and pubic bones in women. We took this significant difference between male and female anatomy into account when developing the saddle.

No pressure on sensitive areas

The correct distribution of pressure is important. In order to protect the sensitive perineum area, the pressure must be shifted to the seat bones and parts of the pubic arch - this is exactly how the raised surface of Ergon men's saddles works. Due to the straighter seated male pelvis, we kept the surface flat and even for the best possible freedom of movement. For the support, we use the highest quality foams.

The right size

The shape and size of the saddle should match the width of the rider's seat bones to maximize comfort and enjoyment. The pelvic bone has a unique V-shape and the saddle should provide the seat bones with a large contact surface with the ability to meet the demands of different sitting positions. Different saddle widths are offered so that the usable seating surface matches the rider's unique sit bone distance. The more the rider sits forward and aggressively, the more the seat bones make contact with the saddle forward.
