Designed for triathlon and time trials, the Trek Speed Concept SLR 7 brings together an OCLV Series 800 carbon frame, Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 and Aeolus Pro 37 carbon wheels, for 8.97 kg in size M. It is a big step up from a road bike fitted with clip-on aero bars: the geometry, bar and seatpost are all designed to hold a stretched-out position. The Party Purple paintwork pairs a vivid purple with touches of black, so you will be easy to spot in transition.

For the triathlete who has done a few seasons on a road bike and wants to move to a dedicated machine, from Olympic distance to 70.3. It also suits the strong rider discovering individual time trials with their club. This is not a bike for group rides: in the aero position, the brakes are no longer under your hands.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Since 1992, Trek has compacted its carbon fibre layers under heat and pressure to eliminate micro-voids, the air bubbles that weaken a structure. On the Speed Concept SLR 7, this expertise is put to work for aerodynamics: OCLV Series 800 makes it possible to mould very deep KVF tubes that stay stiff despite their large surface area. Like all OCLV frames, it is covered by the Trek lifetime warranty.
| OCLV 800 (Speed Concept SLR) | OCLV 900 (Madone SLR) | OCLV 500 (Madone SL) | |
| Level | Trek's former top-end road carbon | Trek's most advanced carbon | Entry-level road carbon |
| Construction | Lay-up optimised for large-section aero tubes | 3D moulding, fewer fibre overlaps | Same process, slightly more material |
| Reference bike | Frame 1,522 g painted + fork 410 g | Madone SLR: frame 796 g (ML) + fork 350 g | Madone SL: frame 1,054 g (ML) + fork 363 g |
| What it means | Stiff and durable, integrated storage and IsoSpeed | Up to 20% stronger than OCLV 800 | Heavier, more affordable budget |
Put simply: OCLV 800 is no compromise on a triathlon bike. The frame weighs more than a road bike frame, but the difference comes from the aero tubes and storage, and on the flat it is air resistance that decides your time.
The 37 mm rims are a smart choice for a first triathlon machine: they cut drag without turning every gust into a jolt at the bars. On the coast between Valras and Portiragnes, when the sea breeze picks up, that is real handling comfort for anyone new to the stretched-out position.
The 52/36 chainset paired with the 11-30 cassette covers the flat courses and short climbs of regional events. Ultegra Di2 shifts with the same precision whatever your hand position, and its internal BT-DN300 battery charges through the dedicated port; we check the firmware when we build the bike.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (size) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Aeolus Pro 37 | 8.97 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 7 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM Force AXS + power meter | Aeolus Pro 51 | 9.02 kg (M) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 | OCLV 800 | Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
| Speed Concept SLR 9 AXS | OCLV 800 | SRAM RED AXS + power meter | Aeolus RSL 51 | n/a (frame 1,522 g) |
Our take: at 8.97 kg in M, the SLR 7 is actually 50 g lighter than the SLR 7 AXS, which adds a power meter and 51 mm rims. To step up to Dura-Ace Di2 and RSL wheels, you need to go for the SLR 9.

LVR sizing advice On a triathlon bike, size is confirmed with a bike fit: reach, extension height and saddle setback matter as much as the rider's height. The SLR seatpost comes in two offsets, 11.5 or 20 mm.

| A good first triathlon bike? | Yes: a top-end frame and 37 mm rims that are easy to handle. |
| Can I use it on club rides? | Not recommended in a group: the brakes are out of reach in the aero position. |
| Tyres wider than 25 mm? | Trek does not publish the maximum clearance; we can advise you in store. |
| Power meter included? | Not on this model; it comes as standard on the SLR 7 AXS. |

The LVR Cycles verdict The most sensible Speed Concept for getting into triathlon with a top-end frame. Its 37 mm wheels keep it reassuring in the wind, which matters when you are learning to hold the position.
