Trek Domane+ SLR 7 HPR50 Era White in size 50: a carbon Domane+ for smaller riders

Offered here in size 50, for riders from 158 to 163 cm, this Trek Domane+ SLR 7 combines an OCLV Series 800 carbon frame with IsoSpeed, the 50 Nm TQ HPR50 motor, a 360 Wh battery and a Shimano Ultegra Di2 2x12 groupset. It rolls on Aeolus Pro 37 wheels fitted with 32 mm R3 Hard-Case Lite tyres, for 12.59 kg in size 56 according to Trek. Era White/Supernova Marble pairs a bright white with marbling shot through with golden glints.

Who is it for?

For the smaller rider who wants a well-proportioned high-end Domane+, with contact points already suited to them: a 40 cm handlebar and an 80 mm stem. Also ideal for keeping up with a partner or a faster club without wearing yourself out.

OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. This SLR 7 is built from OCLV Series 800 carbon: the fibre layers are compacted under heat and pressure to drive out the air, giving a stiff frame with little material. It conceals the TQ HPR50 mid-drive motor and the 360 Wh battery, while keeping the rear IsoSpeed and mudguard mounts that are hallmarks of the Domane. Trek lifetime warranty.

In short: this SLR 7 belongs to the series fitted with the 50 Nm TQ HPR50. It differs from the HPR60 version in this motor and in its puncture-resistant Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tyres; the frame, Ultegra Di2 and Aeolus Pro 37 wheels are shared by both.

On a small frame, the TQ HPR50 motor has one advantage: its compact size at the bottom bracket preserves the bike's lines. Its 50 Nm and 300 W peak deliver a measured boost, well suited to a lighter rider for whom a punchier motor would soon feel overbearing.

Shimano Ultegra Di2 gives precise shifts across both chainrings, and the 11-34 cassette keeps a comfortable low gear on the climbs up towards the Espinouse. The R3 Hard-Case Lite tyres prioritise puncture protection, a real plus on gravel-strewn roads after a storm. Above 25 km/h, the motor steps back and you pedal as you would on a conventional bike.

Which Domane+ should you choose?

Our take: compared with the SLR 7 HPR60 (12.65 kg in 56), this HPR50 model is 60 g lighter and has 10 Nm less torque. For a light rider on a size 50, that torque gap matters little, while the Ultegra Di2 and Aeolus Pro 37 wheels are identical.
