For the rider who dreams of the cols of the hinterland but dreads the gradients, or who rides with fitter friends. The 44-tooth sprocket and the TQ's 60 Nm let you climb at your own pace without wearing yourself out.
Alpha Series 300 aluminium in service of the TQ motor. For the Domane+ ALR, Trek uses Alpha Series 300 aluminium and builds in everything an everyday rider expects: concealed mudguard mounts, rack and bag mounts, a chainstay guard and a UDH derailleur hanger. The TQ HPR60 motor sits at the bottom bracket, the 360 Wh battery inside the frame, and the fork is full carbon, steerer included.
| Domane+ ALR (Alpha Series 300) | Domane+ SL Gen 5 (OCLV Series 500) | Domane+ SLR (OCLV Series 800) | |
| Level | Versatile aluminium | Carbon of the new generation | Carbon of the SLR range |
| Construction | Alloy tubes, full-carbon fork | TQ HPR40, 13-speed AXS drivetrains | Rear IsoSpeed, TQ HPR50 or HPR60 |
| Reference bike | ALR 5: 14.39 kg (ML) | SL 6 AXS: 12.11 kg (ML) | SLR 6: 12.85 kg (56) |
| What it changes | Tough, kitted out for touring | 2.28 kg lighter, 40 Nm motor | Lighter, 50 or 60 Nm assist |
In short: the ALR 5 shares the TQ HPR60 motor and 360 Wh battery of the latest Domane+ SLR models, on an aluminium frame that is heavier but very well equipped. Its single-chainring XPLR drivetrain and 11-44 cassette make it as much at home on a gravel track as on a mountain pass road.
The TQ HPR60 is a compact mid-drive motor, very discreet, with three assist modes: choose the gentlest on the flat and save the strongest for the ramps of the Caroux. Its 60 Nm and 350 W peak give a firm push, but the help stays proportional to your pedalling and cuts out at 25 km/h.
The single-chainring SRAM Apex XPLR drivetrain keeps things simple: no front derailleur to adjust and no double shift halfway up a climb. With an 11-tooth sprocket for descents and a 44-tooth for the steep walls, the gearing covers most of the roads of the Montagne Noire. The 23 mm Paradigm rims and 32 mm tubeless-ready tyres soak up rough surfaces.
| Model | Frame | Motor | Drivetrain | Weight (size) |
| Domane+ AL 5 | Alpha Series 100 alloy | 40 Nm hub motor, 250 Wh | Shimano 105 2x11 | 14.06 kg (56) |
| Domane+ ALR 5 | Alpha Series 300 alloy | TQ HPR60, 360 Wh | SRAM Apex XPLR 1x12 | 14.39 kg (ML) |
| Domane+ SLR 6 | OCLV Series 800 carbon | TQ HPR50, 360 Wh | Shimano 105 Di2 2x12 | 12.85 kg (56) |
| Domane+ SL 6 AXS Gen 5 | OCLV Series 500 carbon | TQ HPR40, 360 Wh | SRAM Rival XPLR AXS 1x13 | 12.11 kg (ML) |
Our take: at 14.39 kg in ML, the ALR 5 is heavier than the carbon Domane+ SLR 6 (12.85 kg in 56), but it has the 60 Nm TQ HPR60 where the SLR 6 uses the 50 Nm HPR50. If help on the climbs is your priority, that torque makes up for some of the extra weight.

| How many assist modes? | Three, from the most economical to the most powerful. |
| Why an 11-44 cassette? | To keep a very low gear on steep gradients, with a single chainring. |
| Can it handle tracks? | Yes, on smooth tracks: the XPLR drivetrain and 32 mm tyres are well suited. |
| Does the pearl grey show the dirt? | A light grey shows dust a little more, but it cleans easily. |
|
The LVR Cycles verdict A very complete aluminium electric road bike, with the TQ motor of the carbon models and mountain-friendly gearing. Its pearlescent light grey gives it a bright, elegant look.
