Who is it for?

For the tall rider, often heavier, for whom every climb weighs more: the assist makes up for part of that difference. It is also for anyone who wants an electric bike that won't go unnoticed.

The LVR workshop view

OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Since 1992, Trek has moulded its OCLV frames by pressing the carbon plies at high temperature to eliminate voids; the Series 800 of this Domane+ thus achieves good stiffness with little material. The frame hides the TQ HPR60 at the bottom bracket, keeps the rear IsoSpeed and takes mudguards thanks to its mounts. Like all OCLV frames, it benefits from Trek's lifetime warranty.

In short: this version of the SLR 7 gets the 60 Nm TQ HPR60 motor, 10 Nm more than the HPR50 series, with Ultegra Di2 2x12, Aeolus Pro 37 wheels and 32 mm Kwaremont RSL tyres in 320 tpi. It is the best balance in the SLR range between spec and torque.

On a large frame, stiffness matters: OCLV Series 800 carbon keeps pedalling precise, while the rear IsoSpeed and the 320 mm KVF aero seatpost filter out shocks on broken roads. The 44 cm Pro IsoCore handlebar offers a hand position suited to broad shoulders.

The 60 Nm of the TQ HPR60 are invaluable for a bigger rider, who puts in more effort on the slightest gradient. Into the tramontane on the plain around Béziers, the help lets you hold a steady pace up to 25 km/h. At handover, we check that saddle height and setback suit your long limbs.

Our take: in 62, this SLR 7 HPR60 keeps 60 Nm and Ultegra Di2; the SLR 9 HPR60 (11.84 kg in 56) adds Dura-Ace Di2 and Aeolus RSL 37 wheels, and the Domane+ SL 7 AXS (11.47 kg in ML) moves to the 40 Nm HPR40, less suited to a heavy rider on the climbs.
