For the rider who wants an e-bike that doesn't look like an e-bike, to commute in everyday clothes or ride the greenways at the weekend. Offered from S to XL, it covers riders from 155 to 197 cm.
Alpha Platinum and the TQ motor, the lightweight duo. The FX+ 7 uses Alpha Platinum aluminium, a higher grade of Trek's alloy, paired with a carbon fork. At the bottom bracket, the TQ HPR50 motor delivers 50 Nm from a compact, quiet unit, powered by a 360 Wh TQ battery. The result looks like a classic sporty hybrid, with a straight top tube and integrated bar-stem, and assistance you soon forget is there.
| Hyena rear hub (FX+ 2, Dual Sport+ 2) | TQ HPR50 at the bottom bracket (FX+ 7) | Bosch CX at the bottom bracket (Allant+) | |
| Claimed torque | 40 Nm | 50 Nm | The highest of these three systems |
| Battery | 250 Wh in the down tube | TQ 360 Wh | 545 or 800 Wh depending on the version |
| Reference bike | FX+ 2 LT, 17.75 kg (M) | FX+ 7, 19.30 kg (L) | Allant+ 6, 23.30 kg (L) |
| What it means | Light, simple, ideal in town | Discreet and natural, more torque | For steep climbs and heavy loads |
In short: the FX+ 7 is the most refined Trek electric hybrid bike in this selection, at 19.30 kg in L. You gain 10 Nm of torque over the hub motor of the FX+ 2, with mid-drive assistance that stays natural when you pull away.
The TQ HPR50 is one of the most compact motors on the market: housed at the bottom bracket, it delivers 50 Nm while staying very quiet, and you soon forget it when riding. The 360 Wh battery is removed in the workshop: day to day, you charge the bike directly, plugged into a socket.
The Bontrager integrated bar-stem tidies up the front of the bike and routes the cables internally. The 10-speed Shimano CUES drivetrain, with a 46-tooth chainring and an 11-48 cassette, handles both stop-start town riding and the steep climbs of the old town.
| Model | Motor | Battery | Drivetrain | Weight |
| FX+ 2 LT | Hyena rear hub 40 Nm | 250 Wh | Shimano Acera 8-speed 11-40 | 17.75 kg (M) |
| FX+ 2 LT Midstep | Hyena rear hub 40 Nm | 250 Wh | Shimano Acera 8-speed 11-40 | 17.65 kg (M) |
| FX+ 7 | TQ HPR50 50 Nm | 360 Wh | Shimano CUES 10-speed 11-48 | 19.30 kg (L) |
| FX+ 7 Midstep | TQ HPR50 50 Nm | 360 Wh | Shimano CUES 10-speed 11-48 | 19.30 kg (M) |
Our take: at 19.30 kg in L, the FX+ 7 weighs a little more than the FX+ 2 LT (17.75 kg in M) but goes from 40 to 50 Nm with a more natural mid-drive motor. The Midstep version goes down to XS.
