Smoky black with a matt finish, the Matte Deep Smoke colourway of the Trek Domane SL 7 AXS 1x underlines a bike that gets straight to the point. A single 44-tooth chainring, a thirteen-sprocket 10-46 cassette and wireless SRAM Force XPLR AXS shifters: no front derailleur, no cable. It weighs 8.14 kg in size ML.

For the cyclist who wants to ride without worrying about the drivetrain, the rider who finds a double chainset complicated, or the demanding cyclist who wants a light bike that is easy to maintain. It is also a good choice for regular journeys and spur-of-the-moment rides.
OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. Developed by Trek back in 1992, OCLV involves densifying the fibre sheets in a heated, pressurised mould so that no bubbles remain at the heart of the structure. The series shown measures the degree of optimisation: a higher number means less carbon is needed to achieve the same strength. The American manufacturer guarantees its OCLV frames for life.
| OCLV 500 (Domane SL) | OCLV 900 (Domane SLR) | |
| Level | Entry-level carbon of the road range | Trek's most advanced carbon |
| Construction | Robust layup, slightly more material | Rigid 3D moulding, fewer fibre overlaps |
| Gen 5 Domane frame | approx. 1,055 g | approx. 835 g (unpainted, size ML) |
| What it means | Tough, comfortable frame, more affordable price | About 220 g less on the frame; up to 20 % stronger than the previous OCLV 800 |
OCLV 500 offers a tough frame that lends itself well to everyday use, without sacrificing lightness: the SL 7 AXS 1x remains the lightest of the Domane SL bikes.
Without a front derailleur, the drivetrain becomes simpler: no more chainring choice to make, and no more risk of the chain dropping between two rings. In the workshop, maintenance is quicker and adjustments less frequent.
The Aeolus Pro 51 carbon wheels bring liveliness and speed, and the 35 mm tyres bring comfort. On the roads around Béziers as on the climbs towards the Montagne Noire, the bike stays pleasant and light.
| Model | Carbon | Drivetrain | Wheels | Weight (ML) |
| Domane SL 5 | OCLV 500 | Shimano 105 mechanical | Aluminium | 8.84 kg |
| Domane SL 6 AXS | OCLV 500 | SRAM Rival AXS wireless | Carbon 50 mm | 8.64 kg |
| Domane SL 7 AXS 1x | OCLV 500 | SRAM Force XPLR 1x13 + power meter | Carbon 51 mm | 8.14 kg |
| Domane SLR 7 | OCLV 900 | Shimano Ultegra Di2 | Carbon 51 mm | 7.66 kg |
Our take: the SL 7 AXS 1x is 500 g lighter than the SL 6 AXS and 700 g lighter than the SL 5. The SLR 7 is still 480 g lighter, with a double chainring drivetrain.
