For the XC racer chasing times in regional races and marathons, who wants a light, precise hardtail ready to race straight out of the workshop. It also suits the experienced mountain biker looking for the best balance of lightness and climbing efficiency.
A carbon frame designed for XC racing. The Procaliber 9.7 shares the OCLV Mountain frame of the other carbon Procalibers: fibres compacted under high pressure and temperature, layup focused on impact resistance, Trek lifetime warranty. What sets it apart is the kit built around it: Kovee Elite 30 carbon wheels, a one-piece RSL bar-stem and wireless shifting. The IsoBow system, with seatstays that extend past the seat tube, adds controlled vertical flex that eases the back during long races.
| OCLV Mountain (Procaliber 9.x) | Alpha Platinum (Procaliber 6 / 8) | Alpha Silver (Marlin) | |
| Level | Trek's mountain bike carbon, lifetime frame warranty | High-end aluminium | Entry-level MTB aluminium |
| Construction | OCLV process, layup focused on impact resistance, IsoBow | Internal cables, threaded BSA, UDH | Simple, robust design |
| Reference bike (M) | Procaliber 9.7: 10.58 kg | Procaliber 8: 12.78 kg | Marlin 7: 14.15 kg |
| What it means | Lighter, rear end flexes over bumps | Heavier, no IsoBow | Versatile, noticeably heavier |
Put simply: this 9.7 is the lightest Procaliber in the range, at 10.58 kg in size M. It owes that to its carbon wheels, its Sainte-Anne RSL tyres with 220 tpi casing and its carbon bar-stem; with an identical frame, it saves 1.55 kg over the Procaliber 9.5 with Judy Gold fork.
The carbon rims and Sainte-Anne RSL XR tyres with 220 tpi casing form the lightest rolling package in the range: every acceleration out of a corner takes less energy. On the long climbs of the Montagne Noire, this saving in rotating mass is clearly noticeable.
The SID has a remote lockout: you firm up the front without letting go of the handlebar, just as you accelerate on a climb. The one-piece RSL cockpit keeps weight down and gives precise steering, but its length is fixed by size: we check your position before handover.
| Model | Frame | Drivetrain | Fork | Weight (M) |
| Procaliber 9.6 | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type 1x12 | Fox Factory 34, 130 mm | 12.38 kg |
| Procaliber 9.7 (RSL tyres) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | SID 120 mm | 10.58 kg |
| Procaliber 9.7 (Rekon Race) | OCLV Mountain, IsoBow | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | SID 120 mm | 11.38 kg |
| Supercaliber SL 9.7 (full suspension) | OCLV Mountain | Wireless SRAM GX AXS | 80 mm rear / 110 mm front | 12.18 kg |
Our take: the 9.7 is 1.55 kg lighter than the 9.5 with Judy Gold fork, and 1.60 kg lighter than the full-suspension Supercaliber SL 9.7 GX AXS (12.18 kg). The version with Maxxis Rekon Race tyres weighs 11.38 kg.

LVR sizing advice The one-piece bar-stem cannot be changed as easily as a conventional stem: its length follows the size (70 mm from S to ML, 80 in L, 90 in XL). Between two sizes, we prefer to confirm the position in store before deciding.

| Is the bar-stem adjustable? | Height is adjusted with spacers; length depends on the size (70 to 90 mm). |
| Charging the drivetrain? | Yes, the SRAM AXS battery is charged with the supplied charger. |
| Are the RSL tyres fragile? | They are light and fast; on very rough terrain, a more reinforced tyre can be fitted. |
| Does navy blue show dirt? | No, this dark shade hides trail dust well. |

The LVR Cycles verdict The lightest, fastest Procaliber, race-ready with its carbon wheels and wireless shifting. Its smoky navy blue gives it a discreet elegance.
