In other words: between the Wahoo 24 Path (9.55 kg) and the Precaliber 24 suspension (11.90 kg), there is more than 2 kg of difference. For a child, that difference is felt on every climb and at every start.
Trek has fitted this Wahoo with thumb shifters, a kids' version of the levers found on adult bikes. Your child changes gear without letting go of the grip, so both hands stay on the handlebar when tackling a hill or a bend.
The 2.00-inch Bontrager Connection Comp tyres have a smooth tread: they roll quickly on tarmac and compacted paths, with good grip on dry ground. The Formula hubs and 28-hole alloy rims make simple wheels that are easy to maintain.
| Model | Wheels / child's height | Gears | Brakes | Weight |
| Wahoo 20 Path | 20 in / 1.14 to 1.32 m | 8 | V-brake | 8.75 kg |
| Wahoo 24 Path (blue sage) | 24 in / 1.30 to 1.50 m | 8 | V-brake | 9.55 kg |
| Wahoo 24 Trail | 24 in / 1.30 to 1.50 m | 9 | Hydraulic discs | 10.50 kg |
| Wahoo 26 Path | 26 in / 1.46 to 1.60 m | 8 | V-brake | 10.20 kg |
Our take: this Blue Sage colour is quoted at 9.55 kg, compared with 9.80 kg for the other Wahoo 24 Path bikes, with the same equipment. The Wahoo 24 Trail (10.50 kg) is aimed more at trails with its hydraulic discs.

| How do the thumb shifters work? | Your child pushes a lever with their thumb to shift up or down a gear, just like on an adult bike. |
| Is it a good bike for secondary school? | Yes, it is light and its smooth tyres roll well on cycle lanes. |
| Can lights be added? | Yes, the stem and saddle accept Trek's Blendr lights. |
| Is the teal more of a green? | It is a blue softened with green, neither one nor the other. |
|
The LVR Cycles verdict A light 24-inch bike that introduces your child to gears with intuitive thumb shifters. Its calm teal has a more grown-up style than a bright, sugary colour.
