OCLV carbon, Trek's signature. For the Domane+ SL 7 AXS, Trek uses its OCLV Series 500 carbon, the fruit of expertise dating back to 1992: each layer is hot-pressed to expel trapped air and ensure uniform strength. The frame houses the TQ motor, its battery and the cables, while keeping mounting points for mudguards and a frame bag. It benefits from Trek's lifetime warranty.

In short: the SL 7 AXS shares the frame, fork and TQ HPR40 motor of the SL 6 AXS, but gets Aeolus Pro 37 carbon wheels, a carbon Pro Riser handlebar and the SRAM Force XPLR AXS groupset. Weight drops to 11.47 kg in ML.

In a group, gaps open up on the rises and the accelerations: that is precisely where the HPR40's assist and its 40 Nm of torque come in. On the flat, above 25 km/h, the motor cuts out and the bike rolls freely; it is light enough to take your turns on the front without excessive effort.

The Aeolus Pro 37 wheels and the 35 mm, 320 tpi Bontrager Kwaremont RSL tyres make a supple, fast package. Such a fine casing follows the imperfections of the road, invaluable on the coarse surfaces of the Béziers hinterland; set up tubeless, they can be run at lower pressures for more comfort.

Our take: the SL 7 AXS (11.47 kg in ML) is lighter than the HPR60-powered Domane+ SLR 7 (12.65 kg in size 56); if you are looking for a firmer push, the latter offers 60 Nm and a Shimano Ultegra Di2 double chainset.

LVR sizing advice

The Domane+ SL comes in XS to XL. Trek puts the ML between 173 and 179 cm and the L between 179 and 188 cm; handlebar width (36 to 42 cm) and stem length (80 to 120 mm) change with the size. If you are between two sizes, a measurement in store will settle it.
